“Two things scare me. The first is getting hurt. But that’s not nearly as scary as the second, which is losing” (Lance Armstrong).
The last time that I was romantically involved with someone was October of 2016 (approximately 9 months ago). Since then, I promised to myself that I would never get involved in dating, sex, and romance again. These three things have a negative impact on my mental health.
You may ask: why is a 22 year old male afraid to be sexually active? Shouldn’t he be like most guys and go for love?
I may ask you this:
Have you been betrayed by someone you trust?
Have you had someone invite you to a school dance and then run away from you when you try to talk to them?
Have you ever loved someone who ends up dumping you and having sex with your friend that same week?
Have you ever given that person a second chance just to have them do the same thing?
Did you feel hopeless at that time and attempt suicide?
Have you ever loved someone and then find out that they’re a thief?
Have you ever been used for sex?
Have you ever tried to have a relationship with someone who didn’t care?
Would it hurt you to know that you can’t love even though you want to?
If all of these things happened to you, would you not be scared to love?
